The WA Government has increased its capacity for counselling and advocacy services to help support survivors of family and domestic violence.

10 community organisations will have $3.1 million funding allocated to them to boost access to counselling and advocacy services.

Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Sabine Winton said, “The Cook Government’s commitment to addressing the scourge of family and domestic violence is long-standing, with more than half a million dollars invested since 2017”.

The funding will provide an additional 4,000 counselling sessions.

Winton said, “We know there has been an increase in both the demand for counselling and advocacy services and the complexity of client needs.

“The organisations who provide these services play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors.

“This funding will enable more victim-survivors to get the support they need to heal and recover.”

The successful recipients include Great Southern Anglicare, Pilbara Community Legal Service, Perth Metro Relationships Australia.
