Brisbane alternative metal outfit Headwreck kick off the new year with a fresh new belter, Plan Z, releasing just in time for their national tour supporting Windwaker, Thousand Below (US) and Diamond Construct throughout February. Tickets on sale now via Destroy All Lines.
Plan Z is catchy from the get go, showcasing guitarist and clean vocalist Jamo Benadie‘s impressive range against a glitch-heavy instrumental and harsh vocals from frontman Connor Hickman. The song comes paired with a nostalgic video clip by drummer and in-house videographer Colby Horton in collaboration with Deadend Visuals, sharing a glimpse into each members personality and experimenting
“After two successful videos in 2024 (Buzzsaw and LOW BLOW!), Colby wanted to create something even more visually striking and more authentic than before. The whole music video was filmed in Connor’s house and we filmed it all DIY in his living room. We incorporated a bunch of bedroom shots inside of each members house to give a glimpse into who we truly are. Whether that’s through decor, clothing, props or just the way we interact with the camera, everything you see is truly Headwreck.”
Plan Z joins previous singles LOW BLOW! and Buzzsaw in teasing a larger release slated for later this year, produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, The Last Martyr, RinRin). Headwreck’s new collection drops the ‘tough guy’ act and sees them embrace their most genuine and goofy selves both sonically and visually, enjoying the music they make and the bonds they’ve created. Both tracks were received incredibly well, with LOW BLOW! coined Feature Video on Rage and Buzzsaw featuring as Rage’s Wild One upon release as well, making Metal Hammer‘s ‘Tracks Of The Week’ list and featuring on national television on a Channel 7 Friday night Football game.
